Understanding Email Marketing For Your Business Success
When an email is sent as a commercial message to people, it is called email marketing. But at a broader aspect, an email that is sent to a client or a potential client also comes under email marketing.
Despite the popularity and high use of social media platforms, email marketing is still alive and is considered a powerful and one of the most effective strategies of online marketing.
Understanding Email marketing
According to a research, checking email inboxes is still one of the most common daily activities that we do online. Email is still the most popular way of personalized conversation on the internet. In this modern era of social media, everything is read, watched, and talked about. Therefore, the importance of email to convey a private message becomes much more powerful.
Online marketing is very popular these days. Email marketing is an essential part of the online marketing. Many large organizations, as well as small vendors, use email marketing to directly reach their message to potential customers.
Prerequisite of Email Marketing:
The first thing you need is the list of individuals to whom you would send emails via your Autoresponder program. In the online marketing world, this list is known as “Email Marketing List”. These lists consist of email addresses of individuals who have agreed to receive commercial emails from you.
Do it in a Legal Way:
If you are sending emails to an individual who has not agreed to receive them from you, it is known as Spamming.
According to the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003, it is illegal to send unprompted emails and is a punishable offense.
Most of the online marketers don’t know about this and send promotional and commercial emails to every email address they get their hands on. It is highly recommended to avoid spamming because this would not only destroy your online reputation but may also result in a legal action being taken against you. Where would you find the List? The email marketing list can either be built or bought.
Building the list:
List Building is a continuous and long-term activity. Most companies use square boxes or pop-ups on their websites to ask for visitor’s name and email address for subscribing the free newsletter or for sending free updates. Once a visitor puts his/her name and email address in the box, he/she becomes a subscriber for that website.
These square boxes or pop-ups are called “Opt In” boxes. When you subscribe to a newsletter, your name and email address are saved in the database of a program that can send automatic commercial emails to the entire list of subscribers at fixed intervals.
You can build your own email marketing list if you have a website. All you have to do is create “Opt In” boxes on your website. There are many Auto Responder programs available on the internet that can facilitate the easier creation of “Opt In” boxes and forms to help you build the list.
Buying the Email Marketing List:
There are many websites that sell Opt-in leads to online marketers. The Opt-in list may consist of a thousand people or it may even contain millions of people. The higher the price of the list, the higher would be the number of people in the list. For better results, it is recommended to match the interest of the individuals with what you are promoting via your email marketing campaign.
